Hao Wang — Solo exhibition in Milan

When: 23/04/2026 - 26/06/2026

Where: Studio d'arte Cannaviello, Via Eleuterio Pagliano 1, Milan

Studio d'arte Cannaviello hosts the third solo exhibition by Hao Wang, featuring twenty new paintings created for this presentation. The works mark an important development in the artist's pictorial practice; Hao Wang divides his time between Milan and Shanghai.

Themes and approach

The exhibition examines the feeling of dislocation that arises from living between two cultural systems. Wang's canvases combine Western references — including classical sculpture — with Asian iconographic elements, producing a sense of estrangement. Color plays the leading role, generating dreamlike atmospheres populated by melancholic figures, sometimes self-portraits of the artist with brush and palette.

Featured works

  • Cornucopia, 2026, 120x200 cm, oil on canvas
  • The Thinker, 2026, 90x70 cm, oil and acrylic on canvas
  • Tomorrow Will Be a Better Day, 2026, 120x80 cm, oil and acrylic on canvas
  • The Mad Sculptor, 2026, 150x100 cm, oil and acrylic on canvas

About the artist

Hao Wang trained at the China Academy of Art (BFA, 2012) and Accademia di Brera (MFA, 2016). His practice reflects the ongoing experience of movement between China and Italy, a central theme in the works on display. He previously held solo exhibitions at Studio d'arte Cannaviello in 2017 and 2019.
