Until Tuesday 2 June the Regional Archaeological Museum of Aosta presents an anthological exhibition devoted to Grigory Gluckmann. The display brings together 35 paintings organized by theme to highlight the range of his practice, which combines cross-cultural references and a refined painterly approach.
The show is structured into five thematic groups that lead visitors through recurring subjects in Gluckmann's work:
Highlighted features include painting on wooden panels, thin glazes and luminous surfaces, with a palette and brushwork that favor chromatic harmony. These technical choices create a dialogue between European modernism and the study of historical masters, yielding a balance between modern sensibility and traditional craft.
Born in Polotsk in the early 20th century, Gluckmann developed his artistic language across different cultural centers: training in Russia and Germany, an influential stay in Italy where he studied Renaissance painting, and active participation in Paris's artistic life. Later historical events led him to continue his career in the United States. His biography mirrors the cultural exchanges and migrations that shaped the century and his work.
The exhibition is open Tuesday to Sunday with continuous hours from 9:00 to 19:00 (closed on Monday). Full ticket price is 8.00 euro, reduced ticket 6.00 euro. Check for any updates on opening times and fares before planning your visit.
This anthological presentation offers a coherent overview of Gluckmann's production, valuable for art historians and general audiences alike who want to see how traditional techniques and modern sensitivities coexist in a contemplative, highly crafted body of work.
