Gorizia rediscovers its historic heart: five free routes from Borgo

Gorizia: free guided tours between Borgo Castello and the historic centre

When: from 2 May to the end of June 2026. All activities are free and aimed at both residents and visitors interested in local heritage.

What the programme includes

The Municipality of Gorizia, together with Promoturismo FVG and within the PNRR project “A thousand years of history at the Centre of Europe”, presents a calendar of guided routes to showcase the borgo and its surroundings. The initiative focuses on sustainable experiences and slow exploration of the area.

Slow itineraries

• Saturday mornings – A route starting from Piazza Vittoria that crosses Via Rastello and Via Cocevia, historic streets leading to the castle hill with a gentle climb that blends urban and natural landscapes.
• Saturday afternoons – A trail beginning on Via Giustiniani and entering the Castle Park along an unpaved path through the woods, offering a more immersive, atmospheric ascent.

Themed routes

• A monthly itinerary focused on Gorizia’s Jewish history, reaching the Synagogue and highlighting the community’s heritage.
• A second monthly route from Piazza Vittoria to Palazzo Coronini Cronberg, emphasizing Austro-Hungarian-era architecture and residential green spaces.

Hop On – Hop Off

On Fridays and Saturdays a minibus operates in Hop On – Hop Off mode, allowing visitors to get on and off at main points of interest. A bilingual guide (Italian/English) will be available on selected departures.
