Giro dell'Appennino 2026: essential information

The 87th Giro dell'Appennino takes place on Sunday 26 April 2026 and affects Genoa and its hinterland. The race covers about 196 km with 2,898 m of elevation gain, starting from Arquata Scrivia and finishing in the Foce area in the afternoon.

Route and expected times

• Start: Arquata Scrivia at 11:15.
• Main passages in Liguria: Castagnola (12:30-12:45), the Giovi (around 13:45), Crocetta d'Orero (14:25-14:45).
• Subsequent climbs: Bocchetta, then Pietralavezzara (15:00-15:30), followed by Isoverde and the Guardia (15:30-16:00 approx.).
• Descent into Genoa with passage on the Aldo Moro elevated road estimated between 15:55 and 16:25.
• Finish: corso Marconi (waterfront) expected between 16:00 and 16:30.

Road closures and restrictions

The race brings temporary traffic suspensions and circulation limits across several city areas. Main measures include:

• The Aldo Moro elevated road will be closed from 14:30 until the end of the event (roughly 17:30).
• Traffic stops and restrictions on strada Guido Rossa from 15:00 (seaside carriageway towards east) and on lungomare Canepa towards east until the junction with the elevated road.
• In Val Polcevera bans begin at 13:15 affecting via Natale Gallino, piazza Pontedecimo, via Anfossi and via San Quirico. From 14:05 additional limitations include lungotorrente Secca, via Romairone, via Gastaldi, the Forestale bridge and via Campomorone. From 15:00 further closures extend toward the Guardia area.
• No parking and stopping on all streets involved in the route from 09:00 to 16:00.
• In the Medio Levante and Foce area there are several restrictions: corso Marconi closed from 07:00 to 19:00 (with some uphill-side exceptions), transit banned on via Rimassa towards corso Marconi, bans on corso Italia and via Casaregis from 11:30, and the 9 novembre 1989 roundabout closed between 15:00 and 17:30 with changes around piazza Rossetti and viale Brigate Partigiane.
• Controlled access will be allowed for residents and pedestrians where compatible with race operations.

Public transport and diversions

Urban services will be affected. In particular, bus line 31 is rerouted from 07:00 until the end of the event:

• Towards east: turnaround near the Police Headquarters and diversion via via Diaz, via Barabino, galleria Mameli and via Piave.
