Giovanna Silva. Intercity: twenty years of urban inquiry

"Intercity" brings together two main series and several satellite projects by Giovanna Silva, a Milan-based photographer who for over twenty years has documented cities, peripheries, rural areas and deserts. The exhibition forms a geographic and urban narrative made of images and publications that act as document, memory and trace of journeys.

Silva's work blends photography, architecture and social history: rather than idealised cityscapes, the show offers a fragmented atlas that uncovers hidden spaces, urban disruptions and contemporary transformations.

Silva's method involves long walks, repeated visits and an accumulative approach to images that often finds completion in book form. The photographs document urban change, historical layers and the interaction between architecture and daily life.
