Autore: Redazione 19/03/2026 12:55

FAI Spring Days 2026 in Tuscany

When: Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March 2026. The FAI Spring Days offer free access — with optional donations — to numerous historic, monumental and natural sites across the region. The event is organized by the FAI foundation and run thanks to local volunteers and the Apprendisti Ciceroni guides.

Open sites and highlights

Throughout Tuscany, sites that are normally closed or seldom accessible will be open to visitors. Notable openings include:

  • Florence: Palazzo Buontalenti, Palazzo Cerretani, the former San Jacopo di Ripoli complex (Caserma Simoni) and the Pietro Leopoldo Library.
  • Siena province: Torre and Casa Campatelli in San Gimignano and the Istituto Monna Agnese; the fortified farm Grancia di Cuna in Monteroni d'Arbia (recently restored).
  • Pistoia: Villa Forteguerri and sites related to artist Luigi Norfini.
  • Arezzo: Colle Pionta.
  • Grosseto: the historic towers along the Via dei Cavalleggeri.
  • Lucca: Alberto Gianni Maritime Museum (Viareggio) and the Teatrino di Vetriano in Pescaglia.
  • Livorno and Elba: Naval Academy and Forte Falcone in Portoferraio.
  • Other sites: Palazzo Galeotti in Pescia and numerous smaller palaces, churches and theatres.

Practical information and tips

  • Entry: free entry with voluntary contribution; many visits are led by volunteers and the Apprendisti Ciceroni guides.
  • Bookings: for popular sites it is advisable to check for reservation requirements on the official FAI website or contact local FAI branches.
  • Times: opening hours vary by site; always check the local schedule before travelling.
  • How to get there: several sites are reachable by car or public transport; check access for rural or fortified locations.
  • Visitor conduct: respect monumental sites: do not touch exhibits, follow designated routes and the instructions of volunteer guides.

How to plan

Consult the FAI official website or regional delegation pages for up-to-date information on schedules, access points and visit formats. The FAI Spring Days are an excellent opportunity to explore Tuscany's monumental heritage with guided insights provided by committed local volunteers.
