Historic Houses Day: free openings in Chieti on May 24

Sunday, 24 May 2026 marks the return of the national Historic Houses Day. Promoted by the Association of Italian Historic Houses (ADSI), the 16th edition offers free access to private and public historic residences across Abruzzo and in the province of Chieti.

Notable openings in Chieti province include:

• Palazzo Tilli, Casoli
• Palazzo Mayer, Fossacesia
• Palazzo Luca' Dazio, San Vito Chietino
• Palazzo Caccianini, Frisa
• Convento Michetti, Francavilla al Mare

The national theme for 2026, "Guardians of the future. A living heritage for shared value", highlights the shared responsibility to protect historic private properties as cultural, social and economic assets for local communities. ADSI Abruzzo will offer over 30 openings and free guided tours supported by its network of members.

On 24 May a digital photographic exhibition, "Historic Houses to love at a glance", will open at Pescara Airport and remain on display until 30 October 2026, featuring a large screen and a multimedia totem for visitor information.

Beyond the national day, within the framework of L'Aquila as Italy's 2026 Capital of Culture, ADSI Abruzzo will continue throughout the year with a programme of openings, guided visits and cultural projects to enhance access to historic residences.
