The MART - Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto hosts a monographic exhibition dedicated to Giacomo Balla, investigating his idea of total art by connecting painting with fashion and everyday objects.
The show brings together more than 200 works from the Fondazione Biagiotti Cigna and the Laura and Lavinia Biagiotti collection, including paintings, textiles, furniture and garments that display Futurist motifs (wedges, vortices, arabesques) applied to varied materials.
Curated by Beatrice Avanzi and Fabio Benzi, the exhibition is organized around the Biagiotti collections to highlight intersections between visual arts, fashion and design. The layout intentionally dialogues with MART's permanent holdings to encourage direct comparisons.
Allow at least two hours to fully explore the displays. Check the MART website before your visit for guided tours, related events and any schedule updates. The exhibition suits both scholars of Futurism and visitors interested in the crossovers between art, fashion and design.
