GEA 2076 in Bari: an installation-museum by Alessandro Calizza

GEA 2076 – Memories from the future is a site-specific exhibition that transforms a public street into an immersive experience. Created by artist Alessandro Calizza for Greenpeace Italy, the installation projects visitors fifty years forward to highlight the consequences of extreme climate events and the responsibilities behind them.

Practical information

  • Dates: 22–24 May 2026
  • Opening hours: free visits from 10:00 to 20:00
  • Location: Corso Vittorio Emanuele II (near the horse statue with caparison), Bari
  • Admission: free

The work functions as a time machine: through exaggeration and narrative devices it shows how, in just fifty years, political inaction and corporate priorities can shape dystopian outcomes. The exhibition is designed to be interactive and accessible to a wide audience.

Exhibition layout

  • Three thematic areas combining visual installations, narrative elements and informative content.
  • Spaces designed to encourage emotional engagement and reflection on practical solutions.

Program highlights

  • Friday 22 May, 12:00 – opening ceremony with the city environment councillor, the artist Alessandro Calizza and a Greenpeace Italy representative.
  • Saturday 23 May, 18:30 – panel "Mediterranean: climate change hotspot — scenarios and solutions" featuring climatologists, local activists and campaigners.
  • Sunday 24 May, 11:00–17:00 – "Parlami di TE•RRA", a poetry-writing and reading project led by independent space La Buàt, with participatory sessions.

After stops in Rome and Padua, the exhibit concludes its spring tour in Bari. Besides drawing attention to regional vulnerabilities, the project aims to promote prevention strategies and community engagement on climate resilience.

How to attend: visit the installation on Corso Vittorio Emanuele II during opening days. The program includes talks, creative activities and moments of public discussion suitable for citizens, schools and community groups.
