Festival of Walks in Aquileia: slow travel through history, landscape and wellbeing

From 17 to 19 April 2026, Aquileia will be the setting for the second edition of the Festival of Walks, a distributed event combining educational talks, hands-on experiences and routes through the area's historical and natural sites.

The festival treats walking not only as physical movement but as an opportunity for listening, discovery and social connection. The programme highlights cultural welfare, community wellbeing and the promotion of local archaeological sites.

Programme highlights

The festival features 34 speakers, 21 sessions and 9 immersive experiences, including:

• conferences and talks on cultural welfare, pathways governance and public policies;
• archaeological and nature walks;
• forest bathing sessions and hands-on workshops;
• educational activities for children and thematic workshops;
• documentary screenings and panels with representatives of major European pilgrimage routes.

The opening conference takes place on Friday 17 April at 9:30 in the conference hall of Palazzo Brunner-Segrè, with regional and national speakers addressing culture’s role in community wellbeing, accessibility design and trail maintenance.

The festival is organised by Fondazione Aquileia with institutional partners including the Municipality of Aquileia, the Superintendency, the Regional Museum Directorate FVG and PromoTurismoFVG. Sport e Salute SpA contributes on policies for physical activity.

All activities are free but require mandatory booking on Eventbrite. The programme is designed for visitors interested in slow travel, archaeological landscapes and community-centred cultural experiences.
