EXPOSED Torino Photo Festival 2026: concept and format
Running from 9 April to 2 June 2026, EXPOSED returns to Turin for its third edition with the theme "Mettersi a nudo" (putting oneself naked) — a focus on identity, bodies and unfiltered imagery. The festival follows a diffused model, staging exhibitions inside museums and galleries as well as in unconventional city locations.
Main exhibitions and venues
- Toni Thorimbert – Donne in vista (CAMERA, Project Room): roughly sixty images tracing over thirty years of portraits of women, from private snapshots to official portraits and fashion imagery, emphasizing face and body as identity markers.
- Yorgos Lanthimos – Photographs (Crypt of San Michele Arcangelo): photographs connected to his film work, exploring isolation, body and space through stark, conceptual compositions that blur cinematic and autonomous photographic meaning.
- Ralph Gibson – Self Exposed (State Archives): about seventy works spanning five decades, highlighting the photographer’s bold contrasts, daring framing and the tension between abstraction and reality.
- Metamorphosis (MuchoMas!, Witty Books, ALMANAC, Quartz Studio, Cripta747, Jest): a group show of six international emerging artists selected by the FUTURES platform, investigating individual, social and environmental transformation across independent spaces.
- Messi a nudo (State Archives): an exhibition on three historical figures — Auguste Belloc, Wilhelm von Gloeden and Carlo Mollino — that traces the changing treatment of the nude from academic practice to more introspective and transgressive forms.
Organization and artistic direction
Curated by CAMERA – Centro Italiano per la Fotografia, EXPOSED is produced in collaboration with municipal and regional bodies and cultural foundations. Artistic direction by Walter Guadagnini emphasises a festival of the city and with the city, presenting photography in museums, public spaces and unexpected urban sites to reach a broad audience.
Visiting tips
- Overview: the festival features 18 exhibitions distributed across indoor and outdoor locations; grouping visits by area helps cover more shows in one day.
- Schedules and tickets: check opening times and ticketing rules for each venue; some exhibitions may require separate admission.
- Thematic routes: plan routes by theme (historical, contemporary, independent) to experience coherent narratives in nearby venues.
- Accessibility: confirm access options and services at each site; public installations can have different conditions than museum spaces.
