Erwin Wurm. Dreamers — exhibition at Museo Fortuny

From 6 May to 22 November 2026, Museo Fortuny in Venice hosts Dreamers, a solo exhibition by Erwin Wurm. The show focuses on the body, objects and humor as critical tools, proposing a contemporary take on sculpture through participatory pieces and immersive installations.

What to see

  • One Minute Sculptures: short performative instructions that invite visitors to become part of the artwork, turning people and objects into temporary sculptures.
  • Dreamers: installations with oversized cushions and anthropomorphic limbs that investigate the boundary between dream and reality.
  • Substitutes and garment works: clothing without a figure that converse with the museum's historic fabrics, evoking absence as a monumental theme.
  • The dialogue between contemporary works and the historic architecture of Palazzo Pesaro degli Orfei enriches the exhibition with striking contrasts and references.

Practical information

  • Dates: 06/05/2026 - 22/11/2026
  • Venue: Museo Fortuny, Palazzo Pesaro degli Orfei, San Marco 3958, 30124 Venice (VE)
  • Opening hours: 10:00 – 18:00 (last admission 17:00). Closed on Tuesdays.
  • Tickets: the exhibition is included in the Museo Fortuny admission ticket.
  • Organised by: Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia
  • Curators: Elisabetta Barisoni and Cristina Da Roit

The exhibition invites visitors to rethink the everyday through paradox and play: sculpture is presented as a fleeting, participatory and critical experience. Book in advance and check the museum's official channels for updated opening hours and possible guided activities.
