Ennio Calabria and the Zubcevi Collection: presentation of the first two volumes

On Saturday 28 March 2026 at 6:00 PM, at Plus Arte Puls (Viale Giuseppe Mazzini 1, Rome - Prati), the first two volumes of the series Zubcevi - The Art Collection will be presented: I - La genesi and II - Ennio Calabria. The books, edited by Axinia Dzurova and Luigi Martini, are published in both Italian and Bulgarian by the university press "S. Clemente of Ocrida".

The event includes an exhibition of several historic works by Ennio Calabria, marking two years since the artist's passing, and highlights the role of the Zubcevi Collection in promoting 20th-century Italian art internationally.

About the volumes

  • La genesi: essays on the collection’s foundations, cultural ties between Italy and Bulgaria, and the critical history of Italian figurative art.
  • Ennio Calabria: documentation of the works held by the collection at the time of publication, previously unpublished reflections by the artist gathered by the editors, and a study on the artist's printmaking by Luigi Martini.

Speakers and organisers

  • Speakers include Axinia Dzurova, Gabriele Simongini and Valeri Stefanov (Director of the Sofia university press).
  • Introduction by Rita Pedonesi (Archivio Calabria).
  • The collectors Vania and Georgi Zubcev and curator Luigi Martini will be present.

The initiative is organised by Archivio Calabria and offers a chance to see both the new publications and a selection of historic works, with a focus on Italian figurative art of the 20th century.
