Sunday 3 May 2026: free entry to archaeological sites in Naples and Campania

The Ministry of Culture's Domenica al Museo returns, granting free access to state museums and archaeological parks on the first Sunday of each month. On 3 May 2026 many archaeological sites in Naples, Caserta, Salerno, Avellino and Benevento will be open without an admission fee.

Archaeological sites and museums to visit

Below is a selection of key archaeological sites open in Campania. Visits follow normal opening hours; where reservations are required, book in advance via the official channels of each site or the Musei Italiani app.

  • Naples Province: Archaeological Park of Pompeii (site and Antiquarium of Boscoreale), Archaeological Park of Herculaneum, Phlegraean Fields Archaeological Park (Flavian Amphitheatre, Baia Castle, Baia Thermal Baths, Cuma Park), National Archaeological Museum of Naples, Royal Park of Capodimonte, Royal Palace, Crypta Neapolitana, Villa Floridiana, Villa Damecuta (Anacapri), Blue Grotto (Anacapri).
  • Caserta Province: Royal Palace of Caserta (palace and royal park), Campanian Amphitheatre of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, national archaeological museums of ancient Capua, Calatia and Teanum Sidicinum.
  • Salerno Province: Archaeological Parks of Paestum and Velia (areas and museum), National Archaeological Museum of Pontecagnano, urban archaeological parks of ancient Volcei and Picentia, Roman theatre of Sarno.
  • Avellino and Benevento: Aeclanum Archaeological Park, Italic Temple area of Casalbore, Conza archaeological area, Roman theatre of Benevento and local museums with archaeological collections.

Visitor information

  • Date: 3 May 2026 (free admission for the whole day).
  • Opening hours: according to each site's normal schedule; check for possible closures or timed entries on official websites.
  • Reservations: some sites require advance booking even for free entry; consult official channels or the Musei Italiani app.
