Diana Markosian. Replaced at Gallerie d’Italia – Turin

From April 10 to September 6, 2026, Gallerie d’Italia in Turin presents Replaced, a project by Diana Markosian curated by Brandei Estes. Commissioned by Intesa Sanpaolo and shown in preview, the exhibition combines photography and a film adapted for the museum’s immersive room to investigate relationships, memory and the aftermath of separation.

Markosian stages performative reenactments — employing an actor to relive past moments — to question how memories and intimate images are altered when a relationship ends. The works inhabit the fragile space between presence and absence, highlighting how places and gestures can be shared or reclaimed by new stories.

What to see and why

The exhibition merges still images and cinematic sequences that extend the temporal narrative of the photographs. The film shown in the immersive hall alternates single frames and split-screen juxtapositions to heighten the dramatic impact and animate the captured scenes across time.
