The Italian Association of Cultural Parks (A.I.Par.C. Nazionale ETS) presents a meeting dedicated to two central figures in Calabria's archaeological history: Umberto Zanotti Bianco and Paolo Orsi. The session reviews the discoveries, studies and institutional steps that led to the establishment of the National Archaeological Museum and the promotion of excavations in southern Italy.
The talk highlights the complementary roles of Zanotti Bianco, an engaged patron of Calabrian heritage, and Paolo Orsi, a methodical archaeologist. It traces their professional collaboration and the creation of the Società Magna Grecia, aimed at advancing regional archaeological research.
The meeting is a practical opportunity for cultural heritage professionals and archaeology enthusiasts to learn how research, institutions and public initiatives shaped Calabria's archaeological legacy. Topics include excavation case studies, conservation efforts and the role of local institutions in heritage promotion.
