Cortili Aperti 2026: historic houses open to the public on May 24

On Sunday 24 May 2026, Puglia takes part in the 16th National Day of Historic Houses with the Cortili Aperti initiative. The event allows visitors to access hundreds of private historic residences and palaces free of charge, revealing inner courtyards, architectural details and collections that trace the area's past.

The Italian Historic Houses Association (ADSI) coordinates openings and guided tours through its regional members, aiming to raise awareness about the protection and upkeep of privately owned historic buildings.

How to take part

  • Date: 2026-05-24
  • Time: not specified (check the regional ADSI website)
  • Price: free
  • Info: consult the ADSI regional website for the full list of properties and visiting times

Selected openings in the Brindisi area

Several historic residences in Brindisi province will welcome visitors. Notable openings include:

  • San Pietro Vernotico: Torleanzi
  • Francavilla Fontana: Castello/Palazzo Imperiali
  • Francavilla Fontana: Palazzo Argentina
  • Francavilla Fontana: Palazzo Caroli-Forleo-Milone (formerly Forleo-Brayda)
  • Francavilla Fontana: Palazzo del Sedile
  • Francavilla Fontana: Palazzo Ex Real Collegio Ferdinandeo
  • Francavilla Fontana: Palazzo Galante-Calò
  • Francavilla Fontana: Palazzo Pipino-Resta (now Braccio)
  • Francavilla Fontana: Palazzo Salerno
  • Francavilla Fontana: Palazzo Truppi-Ognissanti (formerly Bottari)

Practical tips

  • Verify opening times and access rules on the regional ADSI website before visiting.
  • Arrive early: guided tours may have limited capacity.
  • Wear comfortable shoes for walking in courtyards and historic interiors.
  • Respect conservation rules: many sites are private properties and require careful behaviour.

This initiative is a practical way to engage with a widespread cultural heritage that combines historical, social and economic value, promoting its preservation through public access.
