The book reconstructs 19th-century national history by focusing on everyday items owned by Garibaldian volunteers preserved in the museum's collections.

Main feature: a preview exhibition of a decorated table inscribed with the names of the volunteers who fought "with Garibaldi", an exceptional artifact that links Bergamo to the Thousand movement both materially and symbolically.
