Overview

Metamagico is a comprehensive solo exhibition dedicated to Claudio Costa (1942–1995), an artist whose practice blends visual anthropology, paleontology and ritual. The show gathers works, installations and archival material from the 1970s to highlight how Costa used natural matter as an archive of biological and cultural traces.

Curatorial focus and layout

Curated by Marco Scotini, the exhibition is organized into three main sections that reconstruct spaces between museum, archive and rite. Through panels, vitrines, installations and photographic series, Metamagico examines the artist’s method of excavation and classification—collecting, transforming and reinterpreting objects to probe origins and living memory.
