Civic Network Launches Project to Revitalize Central Italy, Upcoming Valdarno Initiative

Arezzo, April 3, 2026 – A developing civic network seeks to promote and revitalize areas of Central Italy, with a first public event planned in Valdarno. The initiative, led by representatives of regional civic experiences, focuses on territorial vocations and interprovincial collaboration.

The project responds to the need to move beyond fragmented approaches and to advance joint planning on strategic issues: healthcare, transport, energy, environment, tourism, culture, education and training. The stated aim is to build a polycentric network enabling territories to coordinate and better express local development needs.

Key priorities:

  • strengthening essential services and infrastructure in inland areas;
  • protecting and promoting cultural heritage and sustainable tourism;
  • creating opportunities for young people and countering depopulation;
  • promoting interregional cooperation models for shared projects.

A promotive committee has been formed, bringing together figures from movements, associations and local groups. Organizers from Tuscany and Umbria are among those involved in the initial coordination, tasked with planning the Valdarno meeting and future actions.

The project remains under development: visual identity and an official name are yet to be finalized, and the committee is open to further members. The clear intent is to foster territorial development driven by communities and the enhancement of local resources.
