Chapter Chianti: a 16th-century village transformed into a contemporary hotel

Scheduled to open in June 2026 in Cavriglia (AR), Chapter Chianti is a hospitality project set inside the restored Borgo di Fontebussi. The concept blends historic architecture with a modern design approach to create an experiential base for exploring the Chianti countryside.

A place rooted in the territory

The property features 82 rooms spread across the original village buildings and is surrounded by more than 40 hectares of nature. The guest experience is shaped around local landscapes, seasonal produce and outdoor activities that connect visitors with the area.

Gastronomy and culinary identity

Chef Vincenzo Martella leads the food concept, which balances traditional Tuscan flavors with contemporary techniques. The dining offer includes multiple venues: a meat-focused restaurant reinterpreting Italian grill traditions, a lighter Mediterranean poolside menu, an international-style main bar and an informal street-food format.

Wellness, sports and hands-on activities

The Farm Social spa spans around 500 sqm and emphasizes shared wellness spaces: steam baths, saunas, saltwater pools, hydrotherapy tubs, hammam and jacuzzis. A varied activities program complements the wellness offer.

  • Hiking and mountain-bike routes through vineyards
  • Horseback riding excursions
  • Truffle hunts with local guides
  • Olive harvesting and farm visits
  • Dawn yoga sessions and padel courts
  • Family-focused farm activities and dedicated services

Architecture, materials and art

The restoration preserves original features — stone walls, historic vaults and structures — while introducing contemporary materials like travertine and wood, plus curated design pieces and sculptural lighting. Designer Tristan Du Plessis pairs clean architectural lines with site-specific artworks that animate public areas and rooms.

An independent villa with private pool complements the main hotel for guests seeking added privacy, expanding the lodging options within the village.

Why visit

Chapter Chianti aims to be both a gateway to local experiences and a modern design-driven destination: an example of how historic village recovery can enhance local assets and offer authentic stays centered on landscape and food culture.
