The Museo di Castelvecchio celebrates the centenary of its opening with a temporary installation that traces the development of museography from 1926 through Carlo Scarpa’s projects. The display uses panels, archival photographs, film footage and audio guides to highlight the relationship between artworks, architecture and collection layout.
From the 1926 installation to the Cangrande according to Carlo Scarpa is the thematic route available during the centenary. On display for one year are two important examples of late‑15th‑century Venetian wooden sculpture: the relief of San Pietro Martire and the statue known as Virgilio or Saint John the Evangelist.
Guided tours require advance booking and must be confirmed by the day before the appointment. For bookings and information:
Updated information on opening hours and tickets is available on the official websites: museodicastelvecchio.comune.verona.it and museiverona.com.
The centenary provides a unique chance to follow the transformation of the Scaliger residence into a civic museum, to study how display strategies affect the experience of works and to admire masterpieces set in a strong architectural dialogue.
