Casina di Raffaello, a creative space in the heart of Villa Borghese, runs weekend activities designed for families with children aged 2 to 11. Sessions combine play, hands-on workshops and storytelling to stimulate imagination, expression and self-discovery.

Weekend programme

Saturday offerings focus on coming-of-age stories and workshops inspired by Pippi Longstocking, while Sundays are dedicated to the four elements — Earth, Water, Air and Fire — with interactive labs and narrative experiences.

Saturday: stories that help children grow

• Pippi in colors — workshop: creative session with pre-cut Pippi and horse templates to paint and dress. Age: 2-4 years (with accompanying adult). Duration: ~50 min. Approx. cost: €8 per child.
• The shadow game — animated reading: participatory reading that uses lights, shadows and shapes. Age: 3-6 years. Duration: ~30 min. Approx. cost: from €3.50 per participant.
• What is a child? — animated reading: colourful pages and simple words to encourage self-expression with drawing and stories. Age: 6-11 years. Duration: ~30 min. Approx. cost: from €3.50 per participant.
• In Pippi's shoes — workshop: create characters and mini-sets with fabrics, buttons and colorful materials. Age: 4-6 years. Duration: ~50 min. Approx. cost: €8 per child.
• My Villa Villacolle — workshop: collage and building of imaginative rooms inspired by Pippi’s house. Age: 6-11 years. Duration: ~50 min. Approx. cost: €8 per child.

Sunday: the four elements

On Sundays families explore the elements through natural materials, stories and sensory activities. Example:

• Earth - The magic of clay — workshop: modelling clay, experimenting with textures and imprinting natural elements (leaves, bark, stones) to create small sculptures. Age: children 2-4 years (with an accompanying adult). Duration: ~50 min. Approx. cost: €8 per child.
