Carpi joins the “Giro d'Italia per la Pace”

When: Sunday 19 April (meeting at 08:30, departure at 09:00). Start: Campo di Fossoli. Finish: Parco della Resistenza.

The Municipality of Carpi is taking part in the local stage of the Giro d'Italia per la Pace, promoted by the Fondazione PerugiAssisi for a culture of peace. The event is open to citizens, schools and associations and consists of a walk of about six kilometres across the city.

  • Route: from Campo Fossoli through via Remesina esterna, Parco Berlinguer, via Longhena, via Decorati al Valor Militare, via Pola, via Anna Frank, corso Fanti to Parco della Resistenza.
  • Symbols: a 100-metre peace flag and the Lamp of St. Francis, which will be placed in a visible location at the finish.
  • Programme: stops for reflection with readings, testimonies and musical contributions, concluding with institutional greetings and a performance of the Canticle of the Creatures.
  • Participation: free; participants may join at any point along the route and a flag relay will allow rotation of walkers.

The initiative stems from cooperation between the municipal administration, ANPI, the PacificAzioni committee and the Fondazione Fossoli, and is part of the broader network of the National Coordination of Local Authorities for Peace. It aims to promote a culture of peace, solidarity and active citizenship, engaging communities and younger generations through public reflection and shared experience.
