CAI Elba passes 100 members and prepares for Oct 3-4, 2026 meeting

The Elba subsection of the Club Alpino Italiano (CAI) has exceeded one hundred registered members, a notable achievement for an association promoting hiking and trekking on an island with a limited resident population. The milestone coincides with the subsection's tenth anniversary and will be marked by a regional gathering in autumn.

Elba's trails, maintained with support from the Arcipelago Toscano National Park, attract both locals and international walkers. A highlight is the Grande Traversata Elbana (GTE), a scenic route of more than 60 km crossing the island from east to west and popular among long-distance trekkers.
