Social Walking Festival in Milan: walking and nature in the city center

On Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 May 2026, Parco Sempione hosts the tenth edition of the Social Walking Festival, a gathering focused on walking as a practice of discovery, connection and care for the territory. The event celebrates slow mobility: it prioritizes the quality of walking experiences over distance.

Where it takes place

The event hub is the FSW Village, located at Cascina Nascosta, the headquarters of Legambiente Milano Centro. From here guided walks and themed sessions will depart, combining urban routes with nature-based activities in Parco Sempione.

Guests and main activities

The festival features talks, guided walks and immersive workshops. Confirmed participants include:

  • Diego Passoni – reflections on walking between everyday life and travel;
  • Tiziano Fratus – a talk on trees, nature and inner landscapes;
  • Enrico Brizzi – presenting his new book on lessons learned from walking;
  • Strade Maestre project – collective routes and discussions on walking as a shared practice.

The schedule alternates urban and nature treks, creative workshops such as “Haiku on the move”, Forest Bathing sessions and theatrical performances inspired by mountaineering stories.
