Buccellati’s Aquae Mirabiles: a contemporary nymphaeum at Milano Design

Buccellati presents Aquae Mirabiles: the concept

For Milano Design Week 2026 Buccellati unveils Aquae Mirabiles, an immersive installation that reframes the maison’s heritage through scenography, drawings and silverware. The project creates a narrative space where Italian goldsmithing meets marine and mythological imagery, evoking a contemporary nymphaeum.

Team and collaborators

  • Curator: Federica Sala
  • Scenographic design: Balich Wonder Studio
  • Artistic collaboration: Luke Edward Hall (watercolor illustrations)

The exhibition route

The installation leads visitors through areas that alternate between outdoor references to a "theatre of waters" and interior environments reminiscent of seabeds and classical myths. Key sections include:

  • The depths room: abyssal atmospheres, textures inspired by the underwater world, with silver sturgeons and collection pieces as focal highlights.
  • The submerged banquet: the scenographic centrepiece featuring a wave-shaped table staging the Caviar collection in emerald, turquoise and deep blue; illustrated walls trace the history and allegories around Italian caviar.

Craftsmanship and design

The microsphere motif, characteristic of Buccellati, permeates the installation and the Caviar collection: cutlery, trays, bowls, caviar sets and Murano glassware combine traditional goldsmith techniques with formal experimentation, highlighting the Maison’s historical archive within a contemporary table setting.

Why visit

  • An immersive encounter combining design, craftsmanship and artistic storytelling.
  • A rare opportunity to see the Caviar collection presented within a dedicated scenographic context.
  • A meaningful dialogue between Italian goldsmith tradition and contemporary imagination.
