Borgo Verde in Conegliano: redevelopment plan for the former Zanussi

Autore: Redazione 26/04/2026 13:20

Borgo Verde in Conegliano: project overview

The municipality of Conegliano has presented the Borgo Verde redevelopment plan for the former Zanussi site. The proposal aims to restore a strategic area near the historic center by creating a neighbourhood that blends open green spaces, public services and environmentally sustainable design.

Key benefits for the community

  • Public green areas: the plan allocates more than 2 hectares to parks and gardens accessible to residents.
  • Collective facilities: equipped spaces for culture, events and civic services, including prominent public buildings for exhibitions and institutional uses.
  • Transport and parking: an increase in parking capacity and improved links to major public transport nodes.
  • Education and services: provision for a school complex and a technical institute (ITS), plus significant indoor sports facilities.
  • Sustainability: features such as photovoltaic roofs, green façades and pedestrian networks to enhance environmental performance.

Urban design concept

The masterplan envisions Borgo Verde as a modern urban quarter connected to the historic centre and the nearby Prosecco hills. A large public square will act as the neighbourhood's focal point — a setting for social life, cultural programming and public functions.

Relevance for small towns

This intervention illustrates how targeted redevelopment can regenerate underused areas in smaller municipalities, strengthen historic centres and provide tangible services to local communities. The project also aims to attract creative and entrepreneurial residents, reinforcing the area's regional role.

Practical information

Location: Conegliano (province of Treviso). The plan addresses sites adjacent to the historic centre and the city's railway connections.
