At Biennale Arte 2026, the Austria and Poland pavilions present immersive and performative projects that investigate the relationship between body, sound and natural and technological environments. The works prompt visitors to reconsider modes of communication and coexistence beyond human boundaries.
Artist: Florentina Holzinger. Curator: Nora-Swantje Almes.
SeaWorld Venice is a performative research project centered on the "Venice Etudes": visitors' bodily fluids are incorporated into the work as part of the artists’ imagined living systems. The installation examines the organism-machine concept and system collapse, staging environmental transformations that blur the line between nature and technology.
Curators: Bogna Burska and Daniel Kotowski. Associate curator: Ewa Chomicka.
Liquid Tongues is an audiovisual installation involving the community choir Choir in Motion, composed of hearing and non-hearing participants. The project blends song, spoken language and sign language to reinterpret whale communication systems and foster interspecies empathy and alternative modes of exchange.
Both projects provide immersive, contemplative experiences: SeaWorld Venice combines bodily performance and environmental change, while Liquid Tongues merges sound, image and non-verbal languages to expand visitor perception.
