Biennale Arte 2026: "Ciclica" by Jacopo Di Cera

Ciclica is a site-specific installation showcased within the 61st International Art Exhibition. Curated by Rebecca Pedrazzi and created by Jacopo Di Cera, the piece stages a dancing female figure alongside 36 upcycled screens, converting images and data about the climate crisis into a multisensory environment of video, zenithal light and original sound.

Work description

The installation is organized around three narrative nuclei — birth, life and death — presented as a visual triptych focusing on the figure of Gea. Performer Lidia Carew moves through increasingly fractured scenarios, while environmental degradation appears as glitch-like interruptions in the choreography, setting up a tension between natural order and human intervention. Musician MKDB provides a soundscape that complements and reshapes the visual experience.

Why see it

Ciclica stands out for combining content and materiality: the screens are sourced from technological reuse practices, making the medium itself part of the critique against planned obsolescence. The triptych layout and zenithal visual language propose a cyclical reading of the climate emergency and suggest paths toward aesthetic and conceptual renewal.
