A redevelopment project will convert an abandoned building within Bassano in Teverina's historic centre into a public facility for the local community. The property, transferred free of charge to the municipality by the national agency for assets seized from organised crime, will be demolished and rebuilt using government funds earmarked for safety and urban renewal.
Project highlights:
The mayor emphasizes that this outcome follows more than a decade of municipal efforts to reclaim and repurpose the asset, turning a property previously linked to criminal activity into a public resource. Crucially, the redevelopment is financed by the state and does not impose financial burdens on the municipality.
Expected benefits: recovery of a degraded area, improved safety in the historic centre, enhanced cultural services (library and archive) and dedicated spaces for local associations. The project also carries symbolic value by returning a seized asset to community use.
Practical note: as this is a public works and urban renewal project, no public event is planned; progress updates will be provided by the municipal administration.
