Archetypes: Antonio Biasiucci at the Royal Palace of Caserta

Period: 31 May - 30 November 2026

The Royal Palace of Caserta presents "Archetypes", a solo exhibition by photographer Antonio Biasiucci, installed in the Grand Gallery and curated by Tiziana Maffei. The project is produced by the Museo Reggia di Caserta in collaboration with Gallerie d'Italia - Intesa Sanpaolo and Opera Laboratori.

What to expect

The show gathers about 300 works, including photographs, polyptychs and site-specific installations. Biasiucci juxtaposes concrete elements of the Campania region — bread, mozzarella, volcanoes, rituals and animals — transforming them into universal symbols through a stripped-down visual approach.

  • Single images and polyptychs examining memory and materiality.
  • Site-specific installations created for the Grand Gallery.
  • "Corpo latteo": an immersive installation exploring the cosmic dimension of everyday life.
  • Monoliths accompanied by texts by Mimmo Paladino addressing migration and loss of identity.
  • A route dedicated to the Real Sito of San Leucio featuring tools and objects tied to silk production.
  • An opening section in the Palatine Chapel with 27 ex-voto and devotional objects.

Why visit

"Archetypes" offers a visual and poetic journey through memory, matter and the sacred, showing how contemporary photography can transform local elements into narratives with universal resonance. It also frames the Royal Palace of Caserta as a venue for contemporary art within a historic setting.
