Archetypes: Antonio Biasiucci at the Royal Palace of Caserta
Dates: 31 May - 30 November 2026
The Royal Palace of Caserta presents "Archetypes", a solo exhibition by Antonio Biasiucci in the Gran Galleria, curated by Tiziana Maffei and organised by Valeria Di Fratta and Paola Servillo. The project is produced by the Museo Reggia di Caserta in partnership with Gallerie d'Italia - Intesa Sanpaolo and Opera Laboratori.
The show includes approximately 300 photographs and installations that convert concrete elements of the Campania region — bread, mozzarella, volcanoes, rituals, animals — into universal symbols. Biasiucci's practice strips subjects down to their essence to reveal their symbolic and transcultural meanings.
Highlights
- Single images, polyptychs and site-specific installations.
- "Corpo latteo": an immersive installation that explores the cosmic aspect of everyday matter.
- Two monoliths in the Gran Galleria paired with numbers by Mimmo Paladino, evoking themes of migration and identity loss.
- A section on the Royal Site of San Leucio featuring looms, tools and traces of silk production.
- Initial display in the Cappella palatina with 27 ex-voto and votive objects.
Why visit
"Archetypes" offers a poetic visual journey into memory, materiality and the sacred, showing how contemporary photography can elevate local elements into narratives with universal resonance.
