Amelia: “Sguardi di donna” opens at the Civic Museum

From 7 March to 30 June 2026 the Civic Archaeological Museum and Pinacoteca in Amelia hosts the exhibition “Sguardi di donna, 20th‑century Italian works”. Opened for International Women’s Day, the show is organized by the Municipality of Amelia together with the cooperative l’Orologio and features key works from the Conti‑Paladini collection.

The exhibition presents portraits, profiles, nudes and female figures that express a variety of perspectives—intimate, symbolic, austere or introspective. Alongside the artworks, the curatorial voice of collector Luciana Conti‑Paladini stands out, emphasizing a cultural choice to center the female experience.

Highlighted works and artists:

• Mino Maccari — Portrait of a Woman (c. 1950): incisive strokes and vibrant colours conveying melancholy and inner tension.
• Fausto Pirandello — The Washerwomen / Women at their Toilet (c. 1940): an intimate scene modeled through dense painterly matter.
• Giuseppe Capogrossi — Woman's Thought (1938): pen and ink drawing marked by introspection.
• Antonio Corpora — Seated Woman: a swift, essential line capturing psychology and sensuality.
• Emilio Greco — Nude (c. 1960): strong plasticity and soft compositional modelling.
• Carlo Levi — Portrait of a Woman (c. 1930): a work of deep psychological insight.
• Massimo Campigli — Woman with Halo (1960): a solemn figure suspended between the sacred and the modern.

Why visit: the exhibition offers a focused journey through varied twentieth‑century representations of women and tells the story of a collection formed by a deliberate cultural perspective, culminating in the donation of the family archive and library to the Municipality of Amelia.
