Operational work has started on the Vasto Roman Baths, the largest thermal complex along the central‑southern Adriatic coast of Italy, covering approximately 250 square meters. A ministerial fund of €80,000 has been allocated for extraordinary maintenance and conservation measures.
The site, reopened to the public in 2024 and popular with residents and summer visitors, will remain temporarily closed until the works are completed.
Superintendent Chiara Delpino explained that technical inspections prompted the interventions to ensure long‑term preservation of the mosaics and the cast. Mayor Francesco Menna and Culture and Tourism Councillor Nicola Della Gatta highlighted the institutional collaboration aimed at enhancing the site's accessibility and protection.
The project covers both planning and execution, with an expected completion by the end of the year. For updates on reopening and visiting information, check official communications from the Municipality of Vasto and the Superintendency.
