Aiello Calabro Celebrates Flag of Italy's Most Beautiful Villages

On Sunday, 26 April 2026, Aiello Calabro (province of Cosenza) was officially awarded the Flag of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy. The ceremony marked the village's admission into a national network dedicated to the promotion of historically and scenically significant small towns.

The event saw the participation of association and local officials: president Fiorello Primi, regional coordinator Antonio Favoino, national coordinator Bruno Cortese, and Mayor Luca Lepore. The program engaged the community with symbolic, cultural and institutional moments.

  • Historical reenactment curated by Gianfrancesco Solferino, highlighting local traditions and heritage.
  • Conference moderated by Franco Laratta, focusing on sustainable tourism and territorial development.
  • Historical procession preceding the official handover of the Flag, badge and membership certificate.
  • Institutional participation including mayors and officials from neighboring towns.
  • Local food and products: freshly baked bread, traditional cullurielli from the Elderly Center and regional specialties, hosted in venues such as Palazzo Cybo Malaspina.

Mayor Luca Lepore described the recognition as «a source of deep pride and not an end point», recalling that the membership process began in 2022 and now serves as a foundation for new promotional and development initiatives. The aim is to strengthen Aiello Calabro's role within the network and to build opportunities for the whole community.

Visitor information: during celebratory events visitors can taste local products and take part in cultural activities. Aiello Calabro reconfirms its commitment to enhancing local heritage and hospitality.
