Borgo Verde in Conegliano: redevelopment plan for the former Zanussi site

The Municipality of Conegliano has started an urban regeneration project on the former Zanussi site, aiming to convert a strategic area near the historic centre into a connected public space linked to the Prosecco hills.

Project summary

  • Public green: over 2 hectares dedicated to parks and community areas.
  • Collective spaces: equipped areas for events, cultural activities and civic services; buildings for public functions.
  • Mobility and parking: additional parking spaces and improved connections to local transport nodes.
  • Education and sport: provisions for a school hub, an ITS institute and sports facilities including a large gym.
  • Sustainability: measures such as photovoltaic roofs, green façades and pedestrianisation to improve environmental quality.

Connection with the territory

The urban concept frames Borgo Verde as a new urban segment designed to enhance the relationship between Conegliano's historic centre and the surrounding Prosecco hills. A wide public square is planned to act as a meeting point for events, cultural activities and institutional functions.

Why it matters for historic villages

Regeneration of disused areas is a practical way to strengthen the fabric of historic centres: it helps retain residents, attracts new businesses and creates shared public spaces that support local social and economic life.
