Just over two months after the release of his latest critically acclaimed solo work, Louis Tomlinson—former member of One Direction—is returning to the global stage. With a well-defined indie-rock identity, Tomlinson has reached a significant level of artistic maturity, proving he has found his sonic niche far from the world of commercial pop.
The album "How Did I Get Here?", released on January 23, 2026, marks a turning point in his career. While his previous record, Faith in the Future (2022), already showed increased artistic awareness, this latest release represents complete creative freedom. The title reflects his journey, asking with irony and gratitude, "How did I get here?" while celebrating his achievements alongside a fanbase he deeply cherishes. The album was preceded by the singles Lemonade, Palaces, and Imposter.
Louis was never "just" a member of the world’s most famous boy band; even during the One Direction era, his songwriting was central to many tracks, including hits like Midnight Memories and Night Changes. However, his authorial voice truly flourished post-1D, exploding into a solo career characterized by narrative, honest, and intimate lyrics. He maintains a unique, almost peer-like relationship with his fans and founded The Away From Home Festival—a curated event designed to spotlight emerging bands, which reached its fifth edition in 2026. In 2023, he released All Of Those Voices, a raw and honest documentary chronicling the personal and professional challenges he faced following the band's hiatus. Additionally, a lifelong football enthusiast, he remains a regular face at Soccer Aid, the charity match benefiting UNICEF.
Louis is the only former member of One Direction to maintain almost entirely independent career management, choosing labels and collaborators that allow him total creative control over every aspect of his tours, from merchandising to the setlist.
The "How Did I Get Here?" World Tour is a massive undertaking that will see him busy for most of the year across arenas and festivals. Designed to support his latest album, the tour is divided into three major legs. It kicked off in Europe on March 23 in Hamburg, Germany. Louis will travel through major European capitals including Oslo, Berlin, Paris, and Madrid, with two dates scheduled in Italy on April 9 and 10, 2026, in Bologna (Unipol Arena) and Milan (Unipol Forum), respectively. He will conclude this first phase in the UK with a grand finale at The O2 Arena in London on May 3. Subsequently, he will move to North America, hitting iconic stages like Madison Square Garden in New York, before finishing the tour in Australia on October 24 in Brisbane.
The tour setlist promises a balanced mix: new tracks from How Did I Get Here?, classics like Walls and Bigger Than Me, and the inevitable tribute to his past with reimagined versions of One Direction hits. The stage design has been described as more intimate, intended to emphasize Louis's storytelling and his connection with the crowd. Joining him for the European dates will be the British indie-pop band Pale Waves.
Regarding ticket availability for the Italian dates, official sites currently indicate they are nearly sold out. However, opportunities remain in certain sectors. If primary tickets are exhausted, fans can turn to fanSALE (TicketOne’s legal resale market) or Ticketmaster Resale. The Milan date is the most in-demand, with prices ranging from €40.50 to €80.00.
