From 27 February to 28 June 2026, Palazzo Roverella in Rovigo will host the exhibition Zandomeneghi and Degas, dedicated to the artistic dialogue between Federico Zandomeneghi and Edgar Degas, leading figures of Impressionism in Italy and France.
Zandomeneghi, a Venetian who trained alongside the Macchiaioli, moved to Paris and joined the Impressionist circle. His works, such as Place d'Anvers, Girl with a White Collar and The Curl, are distinguished by their focus on the female figure, intimate and everyday scenes, and the luminous use of pastels. Degas, a Parisian with an academic background, studied extensively in Italy and developed a personal style, known for his ballerinas, the study of movement and technical experimentation, as in Little Dancer Aged Fourteen and Ballerinas.
The exhibition, curated by Francesca Dini, offers a thematic journey through Zandomeneghi's move to Paris, his relationship with Degas, modern life and the role of the market in Impressionism. Through paintings and pastels, the exhibition recounts fin de siècle Paris and compares Degas' rigorous observation with Zandomeneghi's chromatic and narrative sensitivity. Guided tours and different types of tickets are available.
