The Museum in Casale Monferrato will host two guided tours of the exhibition "Here Italy is made. The image of the hero from Bistolfi to Baroni" on May 10 and May 16, 2026, both starting at 4:00 PM. The tours explore how heroic imagery developed in Italian art from the post-unification period to the early postwar years.
The exhibition examines the evolution of the heroic figure, emphasizing rhetorical style and classical references. Works on display include pieces from donations and loans, featuring artists such as Giuseppe Bistolfi, Eugenio Baroni, Gaetano Previati, Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo, Plinio Nomellini, Libero Andreotti and Eliseo Sala. The selection includes drawings, bas-reliefs and plaster sculptures, some recently restored and partly unpublished.
The exhibition's scientific committee includes Sandra Berresford, Leo Lecci and Aurora Scotti.
