To mark 450 years since Giorgio Vasari's death, the Musei Capitolini present an exhibition focused on the enduring relationship between the artist and Rome. The display highlights Vasari's varied roles — painter, architect, stage designer and biographer — and the decisive influence of the city on his development and career.
The exhibition brings together paintings, drawings, architectural plans and archival material lent by major Italian and international institutions, reconstructing Vasari's Roman stays and his encounters with antiquity and Renaissance masters such as Raphael and Michelangelo.
Visitor tips: allow 60–90 minutes for the exhibition, check the official website for timed-entry slots or guided tours, and consider buying tickets online to skip queues.
