Liguria is a land of contrasts and aromas: from the sea to the hills, from warm focaccia to the green gold of pesto. But it is in the local trattorias that the truest soul of Ligurian cuisine is preserved, made of simple, fresh, and characterful dishes.
Among Genoa’s gastronomic gems, a special mention goes to Trattoria dell’Acciughetta, hidden in a small square not far from Genova Piazza Principe station. It proudly defines itself as “one of the smallest and craziest trattorias in the city” — and the atmosphere proves it: cheerful, creative, always buzzing.
The menu is a constant play between tradition and experimentation, with dishes based on fresh fish and Ligurian flavors reinterpreted with originality. Among the must-try specialties is the frisceu alle erbe with anchovy fondue (€9): a soft, flavorful delight, perfect to share with a glass of local white wine. Or the trofiette di Sori al pesto (€12), a timeless classic that here takes on a new soul.
The menu changes often, following the market and the imagination of the kitchen. But what remains constant is the experience: intimate, authentic, and surprising — just like Liguria.
