The World Is One: Yannis Ritsos’ poetry reworked into visual art

From 17 April to 10 October 2026 the Oratorio San Rocco – Contemporary Art Museum in Trapani presents The World Is One, a group exhibition in which nineteen artists engage with Yannis Ritsos’ Trittico Italiano. The opening is scheduled for 17 April at 7:00 PM.

Curated by Francesco Piazza with scientific consultation from Amanda Skamagka (University of Athens), the project stems from Ritsos’ travels in Italy between 1976 and 1980. The poems act as a catalyst for works that explore landscape, memory and contemporary tensions, rather than serving as literal illustrations.

What to see and who is involved

Each artist was assigned a poem from the Trittico Italiano and developed an independent visual response that reflects biographical, symbolic and emotional resonances.
