The Municipality of Porto Torres has finalized the acquisition of the land where the Su Crucifissu Mannu necropolis stands, a site included in the UNESCO heritage list. The transfer from private owners was completed for just over €25,000, placing the areas under full municipal ownership to enable planned conservation and enhancement works.
This administrative step is crucial to launch design and intervention phases aimed at safeguarding and improving public access to the archaeological site, while increasing its cultural value for visitors and researchers.
Mayor Massimo Mulas and Budget Councillor Alessandro Carta highlighted that acquiring the land is a strategic move to ensure long-term protection and to develop projects that integrate the site into broader cultural and tourism strategies.
Next steps include finalizing conservation plans, improving site accessibility and scheduling the activities necessary to support the UNESCO nomination. Visitors are advised to check access information in advance and respect any restrictions put in place to protect the heritage.
