Cuneo strengthens the 'Granda' cycling tourism district

The Province of Cuneo, following a proposal from the provincial councillor for Tourism Rocco Pulitanò, has approved a resolution to reinforce the cycling tourism district set up in 2023. The initiative seeks to enhance the area's cycling offer, already among the most significant in Piedmont.

• Main goal: census and cartographic cataloguing of routes, infrastructures and services for cycling mobility.
• Digital integration: inclusion of the provincial road guide in the GIS and connection to the Region of Piedmont's Connect project.
• On-the-ground works: allocation of regional funds from water concession fees to recover mountain "strade bianche" (white roads).
• Coordination: the district project complements the BikeEconomy initiative launched in 2023.

Officials note that cycle tourism is one of Italy's fastest-growing travel segments: cited figures highlight a marked increase in cycling visitors and a significant economic impact on local communities. According to President Luca Robaldo and councillor Pulitanò, strengthening the district will help consolidate Cuneo's leading position in regional cycling tourism.
