Rothko in Florence: more than 100,000 visitors for the major exhibition

The exhibition dedicated to Mark Rothko in Florence has surpassed 100,000 visits, becoming one of the season's cultural highlights. The display, conceived for Palazzo Strozzi, presents a significant selection of the artist's work within a layout tailored to the city's historic setting.

  • Works on show: over 70 pieces, several shown in Italy for the first time.
  • International loans: items from major institutions including the MoMA and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Tate in London, Centre Pompidou in Paris and the National Gallery of Art in Washington.
  • City-wide project: special sections at the Museo di San Marco (five works placed in cells frescoed by Fra Angelico) and the Vestibule of the Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana (two works interacting with Michelangelo's space).

Visitor information

  • Exhibition period: on display from March 14 to August 23, 2026.
  • Opening hours: daily from 10:00 to 20:00; Thursdays extended until 23:00.
