Period: 9 May - 22 November 2026. Venue: Docks Cantieri Cucchini, Venice.
"Luna" is a large-scale, site-specific project by Ronald Ventura staged in the former shipyard halls. The new body of work stages a dialogue between Venice and the fishing community of Malabon, reflecting on cultural sedimentation, memory and the ecological vulnerabilities tied to water.
The exhibition brings together multiple media — oil painting, charcoal drawing, resin compositions, Murano glass sculpture and video installations — to create an immersive environment where the moon operates as a central motif linking the two places. Water is portrayed as both life-sustaining and destructive, highlighting sea-level rise and environmental change.
The former shipyard setting frames a meditation on interconnectedness between cultures and ecosystems, prompting visitors to relate local practices to global challenges. The collateral event also includes public activities, notably a masterclass by the artist connected to a platform focused on climate crisis and ecological transition.
