From 3 to 9 April 2026 Medina Art Gallery presents "Without Silence", a solo exhibition by Dimitra Laoutari curated by Georgia Trouli. The show features paintings in which the floral subject — notably the poppy — becomes the center of a visual narration combining realistic painting techniques with symbolic layers.
After an earlier period focused on a more expressionist approach, Laoutari turned to realistic studies of flowers as a starting point for broader reflections: the fragility of life, renewal, collective memory and contemporary socio-political tensions. The exhibited works balance lyricism and critical undertones, conveying emotion in a measured, evocative manner rather than through explicit brutality.
In these canvases the poppy functions on multiple levels: a sign of transient beauty and wound, a symbol of hope and loss. Through bold color choices and considered compositions, the artist weaves a visual journey that invites contemplation and empathy, while alluding to historical and current events.
Visitor tips: allow 30–45 minutes for a focused visit. The layout encourages intimate viewing and reflection; the exhibition suits audiences interested in contemporary, poetic approaches to nature and memory.
