This photographic exhibition pays tribute to eighty Italian women — scientists, artists, economists and activists — whose portraits highlight leadership, resilience and the advancement of civil rights. Curated by Paola Severini Melograni and shot by Riccardo Bagnoli, the project draws on the symbolic figure of Marianne to celebrate women's role in shaping the future.
The show is installed in the historic rooms of Palazzo Grifoni in San Miniato (Pisa). Many portraits were taken in notable locations such as Villa Medici and the Teatro Quirino, and the San Miniato presentation coincides with events marking the 80th anniversary of women's suffrage in Italy.
The exhibition offers powerful, narrative portraits that foreground civic and professional commitment. It is an opportunity to consider the contribution of women to Italy's cultural and public life and to admire Bagnoli's photographic approach to portraying prominent figures in emblematic settings.
