Starting on 31 May 2026, the Luigi Pecci Centre for Contemporary Art in Prato presents two adjacent projects that examine late 20th-century artistic practices and photographic performance. The shows combine archives, performance documentation, painting and photographic research with a focus on identity and the body.
Curator: Stefano Pezzato — Exhibition design: Ibrahim Kombarji
ROTTE brings together around 150 works from the Carlo Palli donation to map critical directions in late 20th-century art. The selection includes painting, objects, visual poetry and archival materials highlighting intersections between experimental practices and artistic languages.
Curators: Alessandra Acocella, Michele Bertolino, Monica Gallai — Exhibition design: Giuseppe Ricupero
CARNALE is the first major survey at an Italian contemporary art centre dedicated to Verita Monselles (1929–2004). The exhibition explores photography as an autobiographical and critical tool, focusing on the body, identity and the role of women in the visual culture of the 1960s–1980s.
These exhibitions reinforce the Pecci Centre's position as a reference point for the study of late 20th-century art practices and for highlighting important female figures in Italian photography. Recommended for visitors interested in archival, performative and photographic research paths.
